P.G. Diploma in New Media & On-line Journalism(NMJR)

How do we practice journalism in a Digital World, in which the old ‘rules’ no longer apply? This PG Diploma in New Media & On-line Journalism offers comprehensive, instructive training of the techniques and secrets of being a successful on-line journalist, both from a theoretical and practical point of view. Reflecting the vitality of the web, it will inspire you to acquire new skills and make sense of a transforming industry. In the field of journalism and Mass Communication biggest advantage of Digital Media (New Media) is the increased level of interactivity with the audiences or consumers. This has changed the relationship between content creator and consumers.

The Pandemic of 2020 has brought new media into sharper focus. With social distancing as the new normal and people all over the world in a lockdown, it is new media which has provided a way forward for people, organization and countries. Now industry is looking for new type of journalists, who have all qualities of Radio & TV journalist and full knowledge of technique used in Digital Media. This PG Diploma in New Media & On-line journalism is well designed after consulting several social media experts. Students will be trained with theory & practicals with cameras, virtual reality based TV studio, editing system with latest softwares, and inputs on Social Media broadcast. Students also work on several projects to become all-rounder & work with News Channels, On-line Journalism agencies, Print Media, TV Channels and OTT platforms.

Scope:

Now we are living in the Era of New Media. You know that all TV Channels and Newspapers are active on Social Media. So there are plenty of job opportunities. Internship will be provided to students in different media channels, so they can get job easily. Further students will be trained to start their own business in Social Media broadcast, with minimum investment.

Eligibility:

University Degree with knowledge of computer, artistic nature and good writing skills.

Timing:

3 pm to 6 pm, 6 days in a week. 3 days Theory, 2 days Practical & 2 days computer. Full time involvement is required for assignments & projects.

Duration:

One academic year

 

Examination Pattern

Group A – Internal Examinations

Programme is divided into two semesters, and there will be an examination at the end of each semester. Also there will be examination at the end of every month as a one paper covering all subjects and topics of theory and practical covered during that month of study. Marks of these internal examinations will be notified on final marksheet.

Internal examinations as monthly tests and assignments will be held at the end of August, September, October, November, January, February and March.

Students must appear and pass in minimum 5 theory papers and minimum 5 assignments.

To qualify for Diploma student must secure 35% marks in individual subject and 40% aggregate. He/She must attend 80% of the theory and practical classes. And submission of all assignments are compulsory.
